Subject: Historical settlements
Toponym: Ca' di Taddeo
Municipality: Loiano
Locality: Roncastaldo
Description
Runcus gastaldi, that is, soil prepared for cultivation belonging to the administrator of state property.
This is the Late Latin origin of the name of the village, which later became Roncastaldo.
Ca' di Taddeo is located nearby. An 18th-century building (though the dovecote seems likely to date from the early 17th century and the round opening from the 19th), it has uncharacteristic features for this part of the Bolognese mountains.
Unfortunately, as was often the case, the renovation of the roof negatively modified the building's character and appearance.
