Description
An 18th-century church dedicated to St. John the Baptist and built upon the ruins of a much older building that was completely demolished toward the middle of the 17th century. In fact, the List of Churches of the Diocese of Bologna, drawn up in 1300 and preserved in the Vatican Archives, indicates the presence of the parish church of San Giovanni Battista in Scanello; the former building thus dated back to a period before the 14th century, which now cannot be easily determined.
