Subject: Historical settlements
Toponym: Valle di Scascoli
Type: Rural settlement
Municipality: Loiano
Locality: Scascoli
Description
Under the jurisdiction of the Counts of Loiano, the town was already mentioned in 1233.
Some of the most relevant aspects of this settlement consisted in buildings whose features were typical of the territory between the Savena and Idice streams: in particular, the stairway providing access to the residential part, wedged between the latter and an accessory structure (barn, oven, chicken coop), an arrangement not encountered in other mountain areas in the province of Bologna.
Here, too, a small roofed porch was a common exterior feature.
