Subject: Mills and agricultural buildings
Toponym: Le Macchie
Type: Mill
Municipality: Monghidoro
Locality: Frassineta
Description:
The building complex is situated on a rocky spur at an elevation of 498 m, along a tributary river that descends steeply into the Idice river from the left.
The complex includes a first building with an oven on the upper side, at the height of the tank, and a room with a millstone on the lower side.
A small opening leads into a second room with one millstone mounted and a spare one resting against the wall.
Other adjoining buildings, such as a barn and shed, and a dwelling with a drying room (metato, for chestnuts) annexed to it, complete the complex of the Le Macchie mill.
The place can only be reached on foot, either by following the river uphill or walking along a road from Volande across the fields.
