Description
The church is dedicated to St. Mary of the Assumption and St. Peter.
There were formerly two parish churches in the territory of Sassonero.
One dedicated to St. Peter, set upon a cliff to the east of the Sillaro river and the other dedicated to St. Mary of the Assumption, situated on the left side of the same river in the locality of Villa.
In 1772 the Church of San Pietro was torn down and the saint's name was joined to that of the church in Villa.
It was restored and embellished in the mid 18th century.
