Description
Half destroyed by Second World War bombing in 1944, the complex was largely rebuilt in its original form, according to a layout dating from the 10th century.
A monastery and hospice for pilgrims, in which the portico, with round brick arches, evokes this function of welcoming; the well in the courtyard is preserved, whilst other facilities with such functions are no longer present.
The renovation of the church in 1950 eliminated the Baroque-style refurbishments of the 17th century; the church has a nave and two aisles and the round rose window on the facade was restored in place of the previous rectangular window.
The bell tower was also destroyed under the bombardments.
