Description
The church, dedicated to St. Jerome, became a parish seat in 1574, replacing the previous one dedicated to St. Peter, by then dilapidated; the name was maintained until the 18th century (source: Dizionario orografico... - S. Calindri - 1781 - Arnaldo Forni editore).
The body of the church was raised in 1784, with interior transformations. Now the church, bell tower and refectory have been painted in the colours established by local building regulations; these prescribe, for reasons that are not fully known, red and yellow, colours associated with brick and molassic sandstone, widely used historically in Bolognese architecture despite being very friable and vulnerable to frost.
The bell tower, which is not of a significant height, rises from the church roof with the belfry, whose arched openings are enclosed within a rectangular relief frame, and is topped by a series of cornices forming an overhang.
