Subject: Mills and agricultural buildings
Toponym: La Fiumana
Type: Mill
Municipality: Monghidoro
Locality: Gragnano
Description:
Situated on the left side of the Idice river at 372 m, it formerly served most of the village of Gragnano.
Equipped with two millstones, one for wheat and the other for maize and fodder, for a century and a half the mill has been the property of the Pennoni family, which introduced new millstones and modern turbine technology in the period after the Second World War.
Despite these innovations, the rapid decline of watermills led to the shutdown of the facility.
Its restoration was respectful of the environment and the tradition of mills and their accessories, making the Fiumana mill an interesting museum piece, which has already attracted frequent visits.
