Description

The parish church of Querceto is dedicated to Saint Benedict the Abbot.

In the tithe lists of 1300, 1336 and 1378 it is recorded as ecl. San Benedicti de Bisano, subject to the parish of Barbarolo.

It was formerly called the Church of Bisano, having belonged for long periods to the "Curiae Bixanie".

In 1882 the parish priest Don Pietro Fagioli began work to extend the church, but due to a landslide movement, only the apse part could be completed.

The main body and facade remained practically the same as in 1660.

It was not until between 1920 and 1922 that work resumed, lending the church its present appearance.

A set of 5 bells, produced by the Bolognese foundry of Giuseppe Brighenti in 1894, was placed in the bell tower, itself built in 1893.
