Loiano - Village of Anconella

Loiano

The village lies along the old road to Tuscany and was one of several stopping points with facilities for travellers. Like other similar places, this village is distinguished by the presence of arcades that used to shelter travellers who stopped here.

One of the buildings is endowed with a noteworthy example of a loggia-style porch with segmental arches. Though it may not seem so today, it was an important place, as is attested by a series of elements: mouldings with Gothic style dentils, a stone architrave dated 1525, a monumental stone fireplace in one of the buildings with scroll-shaped brackets and an imposing architrave.
